Critical: Administrative Tasks for International Students

As an international student from outside the EU, handling your visa and registration matters promptly is absolutely essential. Delays can seriously impact your studies and legal status in Germany.

Residence Permit Renewal

Your student visa needs to be converted to a residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) or renewed before it expires.

  • - Start the process 3-4 months before expiry
  • - Book appointments early at Ausländerbehörde
  • - Prepare all required documents in advance

City Registration (Anmeldung)

You must register your address at the Bürgeramt within 14 days of moving.

  • - Anmeldung: First registration in Germany
  • - Ummeldung: Change of address
  • - Abmeldung: Deregistration when leaving

Processing times can take 2-4 months! Book appointments as early as possible!
